Detail and effective sharing of information is critical and can mean the difference between prosecuting an innocent person and letting a guilty one get away. Communication and watertight processes are key to every case. However, due to burdens on police forces such as binge drinking and domestic violence, mistakes are made and the time and care needed to ensure the information is recorded correctly is not available. The problem is that there is a gap between the physical world (Paper) and the digital world. Digital pen and paper bridges this gap by removing it and automating the costly parts of that process such as the re-keying information or the logistics involved with getting information from its original location to where the members of the police force can utilize the information. To illustrate this I have included a diagram below that illustrated the flow of data and the delay points which are costing money. The diagram also illustrates how long it takes to complete these tasks.
